About me – Jacob Ward

I’m the founder of Heavy Mettle Kinetic Therapy, a kinetic therapist specialising in Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation (IASTM) and multi dry needling.

But more importantly — I’ve been where you are.

My journey into therapy didn’t start in a classroom. It started on the field.

At 17, playing rugby league, I suffered a major break to my tibia and fibula that required surgery to piece it back together. I fought my way through rehab and returned to the sport — only to face an even bigger setback. In the same leg, I tore my ACL, meniscus, medial ligament, and fractured my patella. I underwent reconstructive surgery using a hamstring graft and spent 18 months rebuilding.

I made it back again.

And then it happened a third time — rupturing the same ACL. After a third operation, I made the decision to step away from rugby for good.

The Turning Point

Those surgeries left more than scars.

I was dealing with severe pain daily, heavy scar tissue, poor blood flow, and muscles that simply wouldn’t activate. I relied on painkillers just to get through work. I saw countless physios and therapists, but nothing truly fixed the problem.

It felt like I’d run out of options until I came across kinetic therapy.

After starting treatment with tool-assisted therapy, things finally began to change. Session by session, I noticed real progress — less pain, better movement, improved muscle activation. For the first time in years, my body started responding again.

I got back into the gym. I trained pain-free. I got my life back.

Why Heavy Mettle Exists

That experience changed everything.

Kinetic therapy was the only thing that worked for me — and that’s why I do what I do today. I built Heavy Mettle Kinetic Therapy for people who:

  • Live with daily pain
  • Feel like they’ve tried everything
  • Have been told to “just manage it”
  • Want real, lasting change — not temporary relief

My Approach

I specialise in:

  • IASTM (tool-assisted soft tissue therapy)
  • Multi dry needling
  • Restoring movement, blood flow, and muscle activation

My focus isn’t just short-term relief — it’s fixing the underlying issue so your body can actually function the way it’s supposed to.

Final Note

I know what it’s like to feel stuck in pain.

I also know what it takes to get out of it.

If you’re ready to stop managing symptoms and start making real progress — I’m here to help.
